In July 2013, I got the call from Star Crossed Pictures in New York to help produce an episode for "Beginnings" -- a MSG network series profiling the early childhood lives of current and past New York Knicks and New York Rangers players.

This episode featured Derek Dorsett from the tiny town of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, about two hours west of Saskatoon. Using a pair of Canon EOS C300 cameras in the shoot, we spent two days with Derek and we paraded around his hometown and got to know everything about Derek's upbringing; meeting his extended family was great, especially because they fed us like kings. It was my first time in the heartland of Canada and it was beautiful.
